Inside the mansion, couples can take advantage of elegant event spaces that include the grand ballroom, the garden room, and the iconic Great Hall. Furthermore, the indoor areas are where I saw the most potential for artistic portraits! Each room offers plenty of natural light and sophisticated decor. This flexibility makes Callanwolde one of the most sought-after Atlanta wedding venues for couples with diverse wedding visions.

The Great Hall
The heart of the mansion, the Great Hall, is perfect for ceremonies or receptions. With its high ceilings, dramatic staircase, and beautiful stone fireplace, this space exudes grandeur and sophistication.
The Garden

The Conservatory
A small conservatory below the parking lot was a hidden gem to find! Not only might it provide a warm environment to sneak away from guests for a private vow exchange, but it could also serve as a lovely location for portraits for my fellow plant mom brides (or plant dad grooms). Furthermore, this unique space offers a distinct touch to your wedding day memories.
The Ballroom
For a reception filled with dancing and celebration, the ballroom offers the perfect combination of elegance and functionality. The space is well-suited for larger gatherings and can be transformed to match your wedding style. Additionally, the layout ensures a seamless flow for both dinner and dancing.
The Getting Ready Spaces
Callanwolde’s team directed me to a dance studio upstairs as their holding room for the bride and bridesmaids (their “bridal suite”) and the downstairs billiard room for the groom and groomsmen. These are their designated “getting ready” spaces. Both offered plenty of natural light for candid moments, but are not particularly special for couples seeking unique portraiture. However, my artistic eye was drawn to other rooms for portraits.
For the bride, I couldn’t stop picturing a “getting in the dress” moment in the Winter Living Room. Or perhaps a bridesmaid moment on the couch in the Music Room.
For the guys, the Library was just perfect, with wooden panel walls, leather armchairs, and classic artwork. Moreover, the cozy yet polished feel of the Library adds a timeless touch to groom portraits.
