David & Selby’s Classic Fall Heigh Torr Estate Wedding | Purcellville, VA Wedding Photographer

This Heigh Torr Estate wedding will forever hold a special place in my heart for many reasons. Firstly, my husband Kevin and I consider David and Selby to be among some of our closest friends. We’ve shared many highs and lows with them, forging our friendship in our shared faith.

Secondly, because we know David and Selby from church, there were so many people in attendance that we knew! Our pastor from Waterfront Church DC (Zack Randles) officiated the wedding, and Ashley Smith from our Summer Bible Study did such an amazing job as their wedding coordinator. Even the venue, Heigh Torr Estate, is managed by a fellow Waterfront member! We truly felt like guests as much as photographers. It was such a joy to be working amongst so many friends.

Thirdly, Kevin was my second shooter — for the very first time!! And as you scroll down, you’ll see some of these photos were his (peek at the AMAZING seated portrait of David he captured, and the reception full-room shot… some of my favorites he took from the day!)

From start to finish, we felt God’s presence on this day. David and Selby did such a beautiful job integrating parts of their story and their values into the little details. Their families were some of the warmest people I’ve worked alongside. And I already mentioned how great their guests were, many of whom are personal friends of ours!

But I have yet to brag on their bridal party! Selby’s girlfriends were the perfect hype team. They jumped at every chance to serve her in so much grace and humility. And they were so enthusiastic about our photos! It was so touching to hear their compliments from our work on David & Selby’s engagement session.

The groomsmen likewise were so kind and polite. They made the day so easy, and selflessly served during the day. They even took charge of moving all the chairs from the ceremony to the reception. And they kept the dance floor alive most of the night!

While the company was astounding, so was the venue! This Heigh Torr Estate wedding felt like living in some of my favorite print magazines. Nestled in the hills and mountains in Purcellville, VA, this venue let all the gorgeous fall colors shine. The traditional, luxurious details inside the estate framed every moment beautifully. With space for every part of a wedding day, it served David and Selby so well and even hosted their families the nights before and after. After photographing their wedding here, I can’t recommend Heigh Torr Estate enough.

Now for the good stuff you’ve been eager to see… David & Selby’s photos! As you scroll, don’t miss some of my favorite shots and moments from the day, including:

  1. Selby’s “Something Blue” — a Kendra Scott cuff bracelet, the first piece of jewelry David bought her when they were dating.
  2. Selby’s Dad, Bill, escorting her to the Bride & Groom First Look.
  3. The sweet moment I managed to catch of David and Selby embracing after being pronounced husband and wife… right place, right time. Such a beautiful moment of joy!
  4. Obvious one, but who wouldn’t swoon at that golden hour light at the end?! Some of the most beautiful sunset pictures in my portfolio to date, and it sure helps that my subjects were even more beautiful than the light 😉

Tips for Choosing Between These Savannah Wedding Venues

  1. Consider Your Guest List Size
Savannah wedding venues come in all shapes and sizes. From intimate gardens to sprawling estates, ensure the venue you choose comfortably accommodates your guest list.
  2. Think About Your Wedding Style
Your venue should reflect your wedding vision. Are you dreaming of timeless elegance, coastal charm, or a whimsical outdoor affair? Savannah has venues that can bring any aesthetic to life, but the wrong venue can make your details and decor appear out of place. Make the most of that investment (and wedding photos) by choosing a venue that harmonizes with your style!
  3. Factor in Logistics
From transportation to accommodations, Savannah is known for its hospitality, but it’s wise to consider the proximity of your venue to hotels and local attractions for your guests’ convenience. Consider traffic, city events on or around your wedding day that may cause disruption, and other logistics your guests may face. A wedding planner will help you navigate all the unexpected challenges with ease!
  4. Book Early
Savannah is a popular wedding destination, especially in spring and fall. To secure your dream venue, book your Savannah wedding venue as early as possible! Then secure primary vendors on your list such as photographer, videographer, planner (if you don’t yet have one) and more.

Making the Most of Savannah Wedding Venues

Choosing one of Savannah’s stunning wedding venues is just the beginning. Personalize your celebration with touches that reflect your interests and love story. Whether it’s incorporating local cuisine like shrimp and grits, offering your guests trolley rides through the historic district, or having your photos taken under the iconic Spanish moss, Savannah is full of ways to make your wedding day an unforgettable experience for all.
