Anyone who reads my blog regularly knows that I LOVE my ENP Couples… but I hope I don’t sound like a broken record. I truly mean it when I say that Alexis and Wesley are two of the sweetest love birds I’ve worked with! These two are planning their perfect day, eloping in Old Town Alexandria in just ONE WEEK!! So we rushed to book their winter Georgetown Engagement Session so we could get some practice in before the three of us go romping around in their wedding attire next week.
The Magic of Trust
Despite never having had a professional photo session before, these two were a natural! Their excitement was at an all time high as they counted down the days until they are husband and wife. And though Wesley claimed he did not love taking photos, he crushed it! The difference? Trust!
If you are someone who doesn’t think they’re good in front of a camera or you hate taking photos, a little trust can go a long way. Trusting me means you let me walk you through every step of the process. I teach you my posing and you just lean in and know you CANNOT mess this up. It is my job to make you feel comfortable and look your best.
Alexis and Wesley are proof that it works. And we had a few challenges too! Georgetown Waterfront Park was abuzz with Saturday crowds. Plus, there was not a cloud in sight or enough leaves on the trees to diffuse the harsh sunlight. But we worked together! First, we found spots to keep people out of the background. Then, we decided to use the golden harsh sunlight to our advantage. The results? Glowy, sunny portraits even in the dead of a February, DC winter day.
Don’t Want Dead Winter Engagement Photos? Bring Your Own Color!
Thanks to Alexis’ beautiful lilac dress, you’d think we shot this in the warmth of spring! We just warmed her up between photos with a coat every now and then. Worried your winter engagement session will lack color and pop? Take cues from Alexis and Wesley! Add color with your wardrobe!
Now that their winter Georgetown Engagement Session was such a success, I am even more excited for their elopement next weekend. So if they bring even half of the photogenic energy that they brought to their engagement session, it will be a great day!
But regardless, I love celebrating with my ENP Couples as they make beautiful lifelong commitments to one another in marriage. Whether you’re planning a grand, luxurious destination wedding, a small hometown event with a modest budget, or a simple elopement just the two of you. The most important part is making vows out of love and sacrifice to build a life together.
I hope you love scrolling through these sweet portraits as much as I loved taking them!
Things to Learn From This Session for Your Own Engagement Photos
- Trust your photographer, even if you don’t like taking photos or have never had photos done before!
- Even the most crowded locations can be beautiful if you position and pose correctly.
- Bring your own color if you’re going to a drab/dead location! Winter photos can be saved by sunlight and a pretty purple dress.
